Within the whirlwind

The film tells the autobiographic story of Evgenia Ginzburg, a Russian Jewish poet, who falls from Communist grace during Stalin’s “Great Purge”. After living a life of privilege as a loyal party member, she is sentenced to 10 years of hard labour in a desolate Soviet Gulag camp. After having lost everything, she meets a German camp doctor, who rekindles her will to survive among the frozen horrors of Siberia.
