Louise retourne en Belgique après un long voyage en Asie, mais elle semble hésiter à retourner à la maison et repousse le moment de rentrer. À Bruxelles Nord, un Américain la remarque. Il est sur le point de partir en voyage. Au lieu de prendre son train, il suit Louise. Contrairement à elle, il recule le moment de partir. Ce qui suit est un trekking à travers Bruxelles la nuit. Ils sont dans l’intermédiaire, pas encore partis, pas encore rentrés, dans une énorme zone de transit, Bruxelles: un espace qui ne répond pas aux attentes et aux exigences quotidiennes de la réalité. Un lieu qui invite à des rencontres étonnantes, un espace inter-culturel, inter-national. Et bien sûr, les problèmes de communication qui vont avec. Comment expérimenter le pays familier/natal comme un pays étranger? Beaucoup de petits moments remarquables, comme le monologue de l'ex-chauffeur de taxi qui continue à conduire chaque nuit à travers Bruxelles, font du film un détour qui en vaut la peine.

Louise komt terug naar België na een lange reis in Azië, maar aarzelt om naar huis te gaan. Ze stelt het moment uit om thuis te komen. In Brussel-Noord merkt een Amerikaan Louise op. Hij staat op het punt om op reis te vertrekken. In plaats van zijn trein te nemen, volgt hij Louise. In tegenstelling tot Louise, stelt hij het moment uit om te vertrekken. Wat volgt is een trektocht door nachtelijk Brussel. Ze bevinden zich in een tussen-moment, nog niet vertrokken, nog niet aangekomen, in de enorme transitzone Brussel: een ruimte die niet beantwoordt aan de alledaagse verwachtingen en eisen van de realiteit. Een plaats die uitnodigt tot verrassende ontmoetingen, een interculturele, internationale zone. En met uiteraard de communicatieproblemen die zo’n zone met zich meebrengt. Hoe het thuisland als een vreemd land ervaren? Tal van prachtige momenten, zoals de monoloog van de ex-taxichauffeur die elke nacht door Brussel rijdt, maken deze film zeker de moeite waard.

Louise comes back to Belgium after a long trip in Asia, but is reluctant to go home. She postpones the moment to come home. In Brussels North Station an American notices Louise. He is about to leave. Instead of taking his train, he follows her. Unlike Louise, he postpones the moment to leave. What follows is a backpacking trip through Brussels at night. They are in a moment in between, not yet gone, not yet arrived, in a huge transit zone, called Brussels: a space that doesn’t meet the expectations and demands of everyday reality. A place that makes surprising encounters possible, an inter-cultural, inter-national area. And of course the communication problems that come with such a zone. How to experience the home land as a foreign country? Many wonderful moments, such as the monologue of the former taxi driver who still drives every night through Brussels, make this film worthwhile.
