Les frères Michele et Lorenzo vivent dans la maison parentale en Italie. Michele, un éleveur de chiens introverti, est difficile à approcher. Lorenzo, musicien de jazz extraverti, est toujours ouvert aux nouvelles rencontres. Ils apprennent que leur père, Dario, parti il y a 12 ans, a vendu la maison et vit à Marrakech. Ils partent à sa recherche pour tenter de garder leur maison. Ce road movie offre une approche rafraichissante sur des thèmes classiques tels que devenir adulte ou le conflit de génération et la quête d'identité. Les personnages sont intelligemment construits. Comment rendre sympathique un personnage peu fiable et égoïste comme Dario? Une prestation réussite. Les trois hommes partent pour le désert où ils se rapprochent les uns des autres. Le spectateur est témoin d’une image splendide d’une montgolfière en pleine ascension. Le titre renvoit à la montgolfière et au caractère de Dario: un homme qui ne fait que des projets en l’air. Un road movie sur la relation père-fils.

De personages zijn intelligent uitgewerkt. Hoe van een onbetrouwbare praatjesmaker als Dario toch een sympathiek personage maken? Een geslaagde prestatie. De drie mannen vertrekken naar de woestijn, waar ze naar elkaar toegroeien. De toeschouwer is getuige van het onvergetelijke beeld van een opstijgende luchtballon. De titel verwijst zowel naar de luchtballon als naar Dario’s karakter: een man die zijn leven lang luchtkastelen bouwt. Een roadmovie over vader-zoonrelaties.
